On the bank holiday weekend at the start of June  PJ Ryan put in a superb performance at the National Matchplay championships to secure a medal by making it all the way through to the semi final. 

Saturday 24th May saw some challenging conditions at Cil Na Mona following on from the recent good weather we have been seeing. Strong wind gusts and intermittent showers in combination with hard greens made the conditions incredibly tricky for scoring which makes the lads achievements even more notable!

Since joining Ardnacrusha Pitch and Putt Club 2 years ago I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of this friendly and welcoming club boasting a fantastic championship grade course! Now being on the committee it is great to see so many new members joining and previous members re-joining the club. I thought I'd share my experience and 5 things I learned after joining in the hope that it helps some of our newer members enjoy the game and course as much as I have!  

The weekend of the 12th & 13th April saw the annual County Board matchplay championship take place with Bruff Pitch and Putt Club hosting this years event. The course was in excellent shape and the sun was shining on what was an sucessful weekend for Ardnacrusha picking up 2 of the 3 trophies on offer. Ger Kehoe claimed the intermediate title with an impressive 6&5 victory over Niall Seery of Cil Na Mona. In the Junior grade it was an all Ardnacrusha final with club captain Brian Andrews against Pat "Coco" Ryan, Brian's luck was in and emerged as winner with a 7&5 victory and a hole in one on the 13th to finish the contest, the match being much closer than the score line suggests! 

Congratulations to Brendan O'Connor for finishing first in the Junior B category at the Ryan Cup at Bruff Pitch and Putt Club on St Patrick's day!

Our winter league competition concluded on Sunday 16th March where we were blessed with the weather as it turned out to be a beautiful day and there was some superb pitch and putt played as well. A huge thanks to all our sponsors over the course of the tournament. Congratulations to all semifinalists for reaching that stage of the competition. The overall winners of the nett competition being PJ Ryan and Brendan O'Connor (Pictured below). PJ and Brendan were victorious in the Final against the pairing that led the overall nett scoring throughout the ten weeks by some margin, Eugene McNamara and Kieran Bermingham. Eugene and Kieran had defeated Pat "Coco" Ryan and Terry Reaves in a closely contested semi final. PJ and Brendan had also had a close fought battle against Mike Kenny and Evin McGuane in the other nett semi final.
