Historic Ladies Competition Held

It is truly fitting that the last Presidents Prize to be held in the name of the great man himself, Willie Logan, also saw another historic event that Willie would have been delighted to witness, our first ever ladies day competition.

It was obvious that Willie approved as he ensured the sun shone brightly for the ladies on Saturday June 21st.  In total 9 ladies took part in the competition where there was some great pitch and putt on display and above all else a lot of enjoyment was had!

Winner of the Ladies Competition was Kay Scanlon, in runner up position was Patricia Daly, 3rd place went to Mary Price and best newcomer was awarded to Fiona Hennigan. Well done to all the Ladies in what was a brilliant day for the club!

Willie Has the Last Laugh with the Gents!

It was a completely different story on Sunday morning for the Gents Presidents Prize competition where the heavens opened and lashed down on the course, Willie clearly didn't want the same fine weather for this side of the competition!

This year saw the first presentation of the "Willie Logan Perpetual Cup" for the overall winner of the competition which has been kindly donated in Willies honour by the Logan family (Pictured with the cup). Its a fitting tribute for a man that was a devoted member of the club for over 60 years and served as the clubs president since 2007. The Presidents Prize was the only club major that did not have a trophy presented for it and its fitting that Willie will be remembered every year the cup is presented moving forward and there are plenty of great stories of the man to go with it.

Gents Results

Despite the weathers best efforts there were still some scores to be had and this year saw club captain Brian Andrews takes the spoils by a narrow margin of only 1 shot, scoring -3 gross and 87 nett.

The Runner up position had to go to the back 18 as both Eugene McNamara and Mike Kenny scored gross -2 Nett 88. With Eugene taking the runner up spot with 52 on the back 18 to Mikes 55.

The Gross prize went to Pacelli Darcy with an impressive -14 and the runner up in the gross didn't fall far from the Tree with Pacelli's son Mike Darcy taking runner up spot with -11.

Due to the generosity of the Logan family there were many other prizes up for grabs on the day with Kieran Bermingham taking Best Gross 18, Brendan O'Connor taking best nett 18, Frank Logan taking over 60 best gross, PJ Ryan taking over 60 best nett and a special mention to a new member this year and Willies grandson Sam Logan for taking MVP!

A fitting Weekend for Willie

A great weekends pitch and putt was had with it being a fitting tribute that Willie would have been proud of I'm sure. Willies son, Frank gave a fitting speech at the awards ceremony telling us about the great history Willie had with the club. Chairman John Kavanagh gave a lovely speech recalling special moments with Willie and in competition with him over the years and Brian Andrews paid tribute whilst collecting the perpetual cup after being the last man Willie Presented with the Presidents Prize in 2024. He may not be with us anymore but Willie will live long in the memories of the members of Ardnacrusha Pitch and Putt club for the service he gave over the years, this was seen when members past made special effort to turn out for the event in Willies honour with Brendan Gavin, Martin Quinn, John Cooney and Ian Kavanagh to name a few.  Well done to all involved and a special thanks to the logan family.

There are too many pictures to place them all here so and additional gallery for the day will be added to the gallery section. Gallery Link
