Pitch and Putt - What is it?
Affiliated Pitch and Putt refers to a formally organized version of the sport Pitch and Putt, governed under an official body, typically Pitch and Putt Ireland (PPI). The game itself is a shorter, more accessible variant of golf, played on courses with holes ranging typically from 30 to 70 meters. It emphasizes skill and precision over power, using only a few clubs (usually a putter and two wedges).
When a club or competition is said to be “affiliated,” it means it operates under the official rules, standards, and regulations of Pitch and Putt Ireland (or formerly the Pitch and Putt Union of Ireland—PPUI), and its players are eligible for official national rankings, inter-county competitions, and national championships.
